THE ROSE OF TRALEE International Festival is one of Ireland’s largest and longest running festivals. Based around the selection of the Rose of Tralee, it connects the global Irish community and affords Irish communities abroad the opportunity to connect with home.

The Rose of Tralee International Festival is the only festival in Ireland that delivers two nights of live television together with a live web stream to a global audience, promoting Tralee and Ireland as a holiday destination at home and abroad.

The International Festival held in August every year is comprised of many elements. In addition to the live TV selection of the Rose of Tralee, there is a family based carnival and street entertainment, circus and funfair, a fashion show, live open air concerts, workshops, street market and firework displays.

In recent years the Festival has grown to much more than a week in August. There are now nearly 70 Rose events held worldwide in the months leading up to the International Festival (see our Centres page for a full list of all our Rose Centres).

The Rose of Tralee carries out a range of activities during the year as ambassador for the Festival and the worldwide Irish community. In addition, her fellow Roses continue to represent the Festival in their local communities. Last but not least, we mustn’t forget the Rose Escorts who are put through their paces in interview and bootcamp to ensure they are up to the job of supporting the Roses at the International Festival.

Millions of people have travelled to the Rose of Tralee International Festival since 1959. It delivers a packed week of activity through 80 hours of mostly free family entertainment in a location steeped in culture, history and beauty.
